History of Tieger Awards
In an aim to recognize, encourage and honour entrepreneurship in the state of West Bengal, TiE instituted an award called TiEGER AWARDS in 2006.
The six awardees were:
Mr. Arup Dasgupta, MD, Metalogic systems P. Ltd. (Category: IT),
Mr. Ajit Khandelwal & Nirmal Bagaria, BNKe Solutions P. Ltd. (Category: ITES),
Mr. Madan Mohanka, MD, Tega Group of Industries (Category:Manufacturing),
Mr. Rahul Saraf, MD, Technopolis (Category: Other services),
Mr. DP Poddar, Director, West Bengal Voluntary Health Association (Category: Social sector), and
Ms. Lavanya Burman, proprietor, Lovey's Confectioneries (Category: Woman entrepreneur of the year).
This year the focus has shifted to
involving the future of the nation: the youth. Therefore while TiEGER AWARDS 2007 will
appreciate budding entrepreneurs from across the state, TiEGER CUB AWARDS 2007 will identify talent from various engineering and management institutes. In the former the nominees will be people with businesses worth 50 lacs or more and with innovative ideas to make their business grow. In the latter the participating students will be asked to submit their business plans. An independent panel of judges from Academia and Industry will be judging the acumen of the participants in both the awards.
