The Indus Entrepreneurs (TiE) Kolkata Chapter is organizing the 3rd signature event named TiEGER 09 on January 9 & 10, 2009 at Hotel Oberoi Grand.
In 2006, TiE Kolkata had a successful launch of the TiEGER Awards to recognize and motivate local entrepreneurs in West Bengal.
The 2nd in the series, Tieger, 2008, held during 1st - 2nd February, 2008 was a huge success, with the presence of Mr. Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee, Chief Minister of West Bengal; Mr. K V Kamath, MD & CEO, ICICI Bank; Mr. Shashi Tharoor, former under Secretary General, United Nations and Chairman, Afras Ventures, Dubai; Mr. Arjun Malhotra, Co-Founder HCL; Dr. Debesh Das, IT Minister, Government of West Bengal; R Ramraj, Advisor, Sequoia Capital and Vinayak Chaterjee, Chairman, Feedback Ventures and others.
Like last year, this year too, the goal of the conference is to foster inspiration, skills, ideas and networks. It would be covering a range of topics from finding new business concepts to building the right team to raise capital and making B2B connects with foreign companies.
The broad objectives of the event are as follows:
Position TiE as THE organization for ENTREPRENUERS in ALL aspects
Instill awareness in the relevant segments of TiE's role in Fostering Entrepreneurship
Provide / Create opportunities for TiE members and potential entrepreneurs
Recognize and Honour the achievements of selected individuals for their Entrepreneurial spirit
The Conference would be divided into the following segments:
A main conference with keynote sessions, presentations by entrepreneurs, leading professionals, scientists, academicians & leaders on promotion / development of entrepre-neurship.
Business Plan Competition in partnership with Entrepreneurship Cell, Indian Institute of Management, Calcutta (IIMC) and National Entrepreneurship Network (NEN), where a panel would select a great entrepreneurial idea from a cross section of students and professionals and help it take shape through training sessions and funding by Venture Capitalists.
Awarding entrepreneurial idea from the Top of the Pyramid as well as the Bottom of the Pyramid with the concerned Government departments, where a number of entrepreneurs from the districts of West Bengal would be short listed and the winner selected on the basis of innovation, social commitment and a long term vision in the field of entrepreneurship
The event would bring together some of the world's most innovative entrepreneurial minds as keynote speakers, panel leaders and conference delegates. The audience in this conference will include prominent individuals from different categories like-entrepreneurs, SME /Family Business, Corporate Entrepreneurs, Facilitators of Entrepreneurship/ Innovation, Investment Community, Legal Community, Intellectual Property, Academic thought leaders and students interested in pursuing an entrepreneurial career.
